March 21 Echoes of the Past: A Night of Story and Song in the Barn

from $30.00

Join us for an unforgettable evening where music and storytelling come together. Spectator Bird's soulful harmonies and captivating melodies meet Katherine Fahey's evocative “crankies” and folk tales, in a performance that spans from the mountains of Virginia to the swamps of Louisiana.

Spectator Bird is made up of sisters, Rachel FitzGerald and Lindsey FitzGerald Stine, who make their home in the mountains of Virginia. Together they’ve hewn out a sound that is at once honest and elegant, sincere and captivating. Weaving sibling harmonies with award winning songwriting to produce a tapestry of sound as ancient and ambient as the hollows themselves. Their third original album, Fall Down in a Small Town, is out now wherever you listen to music

Katherine Fahey is a a candid and thoughtful  multidisciplinary artist who combines the folk arts of storytelling, hand cut papercut artwork, and shadow puppetry in the form of crankies (scrolling artwork inside a box). Katherine’s Crankies are often based on folk tales, oral histories, or songs from the southern swamps of Louisiana to the northern reaches of Inuit Quebec. Performing with her is Baltimore puppeteer and antique furniture restorer Dan Van Allen.
